Spin Class.

At Lily's suggestion I'm trying spin this week to see if it will help take some of the pressure off my back and get things healing already.  Icing that little baby as we speak.

Tough spin class today.  I was even 10 min late and still dying by the end.  When I walked in they were doing sprints so I guess I'm glad I missed that :).  


What does it take to become a spin instructor do you think?  Or a work out instructor of any kind really?

Spin. Heavy Heavy Heavy hills today.  The ceiling was raining our sweat. 

 

I do think that doing the bike rather than the elliptical is helping my back.  I still feel it but not as much as I did before. I've been icing it lots too.  Hopefully I'm on the mend!  And then I'll never dare run again because I don't want it to happen again :) 

 

The thing that really stinks is that I had already registered for the Utah Valley Half June 11...  So hopefully if I can start running again next week then I can catch back up.  I don't expect to have a great time, but finishing and not losing the $50 would be great!

Ran today!  my back felt pretty good all weekend.  I only did spin last week and I think that really helped a lot.  I ran 2 and took it easy at 8:45 pace.  I was pretty tired at the end but I guess I didn't lose too much endurance in these past 3.5 weeks of cross training.  


At the end of my run I felt a little twinge in my back so I don't feel like I can really go crazy with running just yet but hopefully I'll be able to at least train and do semi well in the half-y on June 11.

30 minutes strength class. Had the hardest time getting out of bed today.  I could feel my back a little yesterday so I took it easy today and Iced it a lot.

Ran outside- it was awesome. So much better than the TM.  Ran around then to the rec for 3.1, got there at 8 for the strength class only to wait 15 minutes and the teacher never showed up. Lame.  Ran back home to finish at 4.5.  Back felt great today. So happy.

Ran a quick 2 in 17 in the short time between when I get home from work and J goes to work.  It felt really nice outside.  Overcast and  had been raining- perfect running weather. 

After husband went to work  I took Sophie out in her stroller and ran another one then walked/ran another one.  We don't have a jogging stroller, just a regular one but it worked okay and wasn't too bouncy as long as I was on the sidewalk.

I was going to sleep in a little until our crazy neighbor decided it was a good idea to blast music from her car right outside our window at 6 a.m.  since I was up I got ready and ran 3.1 in 28:56.  It was really really really cold outside.  My hands were frostbitten. 

Came home and went to get our Bountiful Basket. I'm impressed with how much came in it!

Then went to the Rec and ran another 3.1 on the treadmill in 27:33.  Had to stop a couple of times because of a side ache, but other than that I felt pretty good.

Ran 2 in 17:30 then went to the 1/2 hour strength class, then ran another 2 in 17:20 after.  Which has resulted in me looking homeless today because I had zero time to get ready for work by the time I got home.  


Ideally I could run all my miles before the class.  But the gym doesn't open up until 5 and the class starts at 5:30.  I would have to be there at 5 on the dot and then still be a little late for the class to get 4 in. Oh well, I'll figure it out or keep doing what I'm doing I guess.  And the class is Mon Wed Fri so I guess I need to adjust my sched so I do the bulk of my running on Tuesdays and Thursdays. and of Course Saturdays. 

I also feel it is important to note that I left the gym with Burt level sweat drippings.  I should have run 5 more miles to counteract all the crunk (crap+junk, not crazy+drunk) I ate this weekend.  Bleh.

4 Happy Anniversary Miles to me in 34:56.  I should have only ran 3 since it's our 3rd anniv.  But I ran an extra mile for good luck on the 4th year.  Actually I just ran 4 because that's what was on my schedule and for no other reason :).

2 miles in 17 even.  The first mile was 8:41 which makes the second one 8:19.  

Gym Etiquette 101: 

About halfway through the first mile a girl came and got on the treadmill next to me and she was wearing so much smelly perfume and lotion.  It was ridiculous I could barely breathe.  And it makes me sick when I'm running to smell perfume.  I don't even like it when my clothes are freshly washed and smell like a hint of laundry detergent.  I'd rather smell my sweat :).  Anyway- don't wear lotion/ perfume to go work out! It's unnessasary(spelling?) and rude to the people around you, especially so early in the morning. yuck. 

 Then half hour strength class afterward.

The first 3 were pretty good, I didn't feel up to running from the very beginning really.  3-4 was okay, and 4-6 were ugly.  I had a bad side ache on my right side the last three miles which meant a lot of walking but oh well I finished it.  I also sweated a lot.  So sweaty.
