Other than the cold cold rain and starting 25 minutes late and the HUGE hills, this was a good race :). Maybe not my favorite course  but still fun and you can't beat free! Merri was there, met Allie (don't be too jealous Burt), and my neighbor Lyndsey came with me.

This was my first post-baby race, my 2011 debut! And it went great.  That's one of my faster times, not a PR, but still fast for me.  I'm happy with it.  It was also about .2 short according to my watch.

My legs and feet were really cold at first and it took a while for those to warm up but once they did I felt good.  I wished I hadn't had so many layers on about halfway but since I only had about a mile left I decided against ditching them.

I forgot to stop my watch at the end.  Idiot.  The clock at the finish said 25:17 but when I look at the breakdown of my garmin I slowed way down at 25:05 so I'm going with 25:05, unless the official results post as faster than that, then I'll go with those :)

Splits:

8:35

8:51

7:45 (.88)

I ran this race back in 2008, but the course was a little different then, it still had the huge cemetary hill, but ended like right after that hill.  And it also ended like a mile from where it started so you had to walk back to your car after you ran the race.  I remember it raining that day too... guess that's just what it does on Memorial Day.

I am so jealous. I would love to meet allie. She completes me.

What an awesome time! You're doing so great. That child birthing thing has nothing on you.

Nicely done sister. I ran a memorial day race a couple years ago here in Spanish and yes it rained as well. That might have been the last 5k I ran. I gave them up that day, but I think I am ready to try try again.

nice job today, leandra! you ran a great time. it was fun to meet you. i have two memories of memorial day: rainy and cold OR cotton allergies. it's a toss up as to which is better.

Where did you come from? Where did you go? Where did you come from Cotton Eyed Joe?

holla! What were they thinking putting me in the same category as Allie? But I'm pretty happy with that! 6th in my age group and that was a large range of age group: 20-29. I may have placed if it had been a 20-24 age group
